Hey folks, here I will look into why fans like me continue to be fascinated by Pro Wrestling and what it has meant to me through the years.

The Early Days

I can vividly remember my first exposure to wrestling on UTV's "World of Sport Wrestling." This show featured iconic figures like Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks. Seeing these larger-than-life characters sparked a fascination that has never left me. Soon after, channels like Sky and Eurosport further expanded my wrestling universe, introducing me to the world of WWF, now known as WWE.

The Magic of Wrestling

US wrestling brought a level of production and storytelling that was unparalleled. Characters and storylines captivated my imagination. Weekly TV shows like Primetime Wrestling, Superstars of Wrestling, and Wrestling Challenge were my escapes into a world of thrilling action and iconic rivalries. These larger-than-life personas, with their electrifying promos and legendary matches, created a magical experience that kept me hooked.

Childhood Wrestling Adventures

Growing up, wrestling wasn't just something I watched; it was something I lived. My brother, my friends and I would recreate our favorite matches in our backyard, trying out moves we had seen on TV. Wrestlers like Bret "The Hitman" Hart, with his eye-catching ring gear and talent, became our heroes. We applied many sharpshooters, rude awakenings, perfect plexes and million dollar dreams during our make-believe matches, creating lasting memories.

Pay-Per-View Excitement

The buildup to major pay-per-view events like the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series was a time of great anticipation. Begging parents to stay up late to watch these events was a ritual. The payoff, after weeks of storyline development, was immensely satisfying. The creativity and talent on display were exceptional, making each event a spectacle to remember.

Wrestling's Evolution

With time, I discovered other wrestling organizations like WCW, which introduced me to another roster of captivating characters. Despite some years of disconnect due to broadcasting changes and life getting in the way, the nostalgia and thrill of wrestling never faded. Social media and reliable internet have allowed me to catch up on the eras I missed, reconnecting with storylines and characters from my childhood.

Modern Day Wrestling

Wrestling has seen a resurgence in recent years. The women's division, in particular, has grown so much, showcasing female athletes as legitimate stars. Events like WrestleMania bring fans of all ages together in a shared experience of euphoria and excitement. The mix of casual and diehard fans, the atmosphere, and the spectacle make these events unlike any other.

The Irish Wrestling Scene

In recent months, I've become even more aware of the incredible talent emerging from Ireland. Promotions like OTT, Hard Knox Wrestling, Titanic Wrestling, No Limit Wrestling and Rebel County Wrestling are producing top-quality performances and productions. Ireland's rich history of wrestling talent, with stars like Fit Finlay, Sheamus, Becky Lynch, and Finn Balor, is something to be proud of. The future looks bright for Irish wrestling.

Wrestling has always been there for me, through the highs and lows of life. It’s an art form that tells stories through physical performance, creating lasting impacts on fans around the world. Whether it's WWE, AEW, or TNA, the variety and options available today make it an exciting time to be a wrestling fan. The wrestling community is vast and welcoming, a passion I hope to pass on to future generations.
